Os autarcas que optaram por esta medida, a maioria dos quais à frente de municípios localizados no Interior e no Norte do País, acreditam que o facto de cobrarem menos IRS será uma mais-valia na tentativa de fixar mais população no concelho. Segundo os dados revelados ontem pelo secretário de Estado Adjunto e da Administração Local, Eduardo Cabrita, as câmaras que vão prescindir dos cinco por cento de IRS gerado no concelho são nove: Alcoutim, Castro Marim, Crato, Gavião, Manteigas, Oleiros, Ponte de Lima, Ponte de Sor e Terras de Bouro.
